ENDSARS MOVEMENT AS A TOOL FOR CHANGE

The youth of Nigeria took to the street on the 8th of October  2020 across the States in Nigeria to protest Police brutality, harassment and intimidation.  However the youth have made some demands which the government have look into with urgent attention to avoid further escalation.

It is a good moves but it's not the solution to the problem. As it is imperative to note that this is just a movement in the name of ENDSARS.

For the sake of National Security I will limit this post to solution base and recommendation.

You might recall sometime in 3019 before the implementation of the new national minimum wage I kicked against the increase and gave several reasons which is what is happening now in the ENDSARS movement. The problem of Nigeria is not lack of resources but that of lack of effective and efficient management.

This is not the time to use force to get the protesters out of the street as it will escalate  and draw international attention as the world is watching and waiting for any form of human right violation to sanction Nigeria.

They is more to the movement, but the ENDSARS is the starting point. They are many issue breeding that is yet to be unravel.

The cause of the protest

1. Unemployment

2. Corruption

3. High cost of living

4. Low standard of living

5. Insecurity

6. Tribalism

7. Religious sentiments

8. Injustice

9. Godfatherism

10. Bad governance etc.

It is not doubt or news that a graduate in Nigeria today who don't know anyone can't get a job, if he must get one is either he buy the job in millions or pay in insurable interest.

They is so much lost of jobs, Bokoharam in the rise, Fulani headsman and farmers clashes, bandit ravaging, arm robbery, kidnapping etc this have crumble the economic activities of individuals who would have engage in lawful productive venture and make legal and legitimate money, but since that is not possible due to the a over reasons, the youth have turn to alternative ventures to survive and make ends meet.

Recommendations.

The youth can be taken off the street without employing force if the Government can look into the following recommendations

1. The lost of jobs that have lead to the increase in unemployment has contributed to the number of persons in the ENDSARS movement. If the Government can create job for the youth and engage them, they will have no time to come out and protest.

2. The government should try and resolve with the Academic Staff Union of University ASUU so that they can reopen our universities for students to go back to school as this will reduce the number of protesting population on the street.

3. The price of goods and services should be reduce to help accommodate the low income earners. Hunger is a determinant factor why this protest might escalate. The inflation rate is higher than the income of an average Nigerians.

4. Job should be made on merit other than left in the hands of the rich and influencers. Nigerians should be able to get job without knowing anyone or paying anyone. Nigerians government jobs now are for sale. How many graduate can afford 3 million naira to buy a job? That should be looked into.

5. Political appointments should not be done with bias. All religion and tribe should benefit evenly as they is no second class Nigerians.

6. The politics going on with the fight against insecurity should stop. Nigerians soldiers are the best ground solders in the world. Bokoharam and banditry is a small task to crush by Nigeria military. They is no willingness to end the insecurity as some persons are feeding fat from it.

However, for the sake of National Security, I will limit it to this few.
